For anyone living in Alagoas or in the countryside of Pernambuco and Sergipe, boarding in Maceió eliminates the flight to Santos and the hotel night in São Paulo. Those living in the Pernambuco capital will find in the cruise from Recife guide why Maceió is today the closest embarkation point. The season that passes through the Porto de Jaraguá, however, mixes ships that sell embarkation in the city with ships that only stop for a few hours. Below are the two lists separately, with dates verified on 10/10/2026.

Four itineraries sell embarkation in Maceió in the 2026/2027 season, all on Logitravel: the 7-night MSC Virtuosa, round trip to the city, the 3-night one-way of the same ship to Santos, the Costa Diadema on 11/19/2026 to Santos and the MSC Divina crossing to Europe on 03/18/2027.

Price per person in a double cabin, taxes included, quoted on Logitravel on 10/10/2026. The amount changes by date and category, and each departure page shows the final price before payment.

The most frequently requested December dates are 12/09, 12/16 and 12/23. The first two have the full 7-night cruise, returning to Maceió the following Wednesday at 9 a.m. On 12/23/2026 Logitravel only sells the 3-night one-way to Santos, from R$ 2,534 (Oct/2026): after that the Virtuosa heads to the New Year’s season in the Southeast and only returns to Maceió on 01/06/2027, according to the Porto de Maceió cruise schedule. Anyone wanting to spend New Year’s Eve on board departing from the Northeast will find the Salvador departure of 12/29 in the cruise from Salvador guide.

Which ships board in Maceió and which only make a port call?

Only the MSC Virtuosa, the Costa Diadema on 11/19 and the MSC Divina on 03/18 sell embarkation in Maceió; the other ships in the port’s schedule only dock for a few hours. A port call is a stop where passengers go ashore to sightsee and return to the ship the same day: nobody starts their trip there.

Arrivals from the Porto de Maceió cruise schedule, consulted on 10/10/2026; embarkations verified on Logitravel the same day. Ships marked as “port call only” do not appear with a Maceió departure in sales; if a new fare shows up, it will be added here in the next review.

The Corazul Buenavista is the case that confuses people the most. The port lists the ship on 10/13 and 11/03/2026, and August news reports even announced the line’s debut “in Maceió.” On the Corazul itinerary page, consulted on 10/10/2026, all nine Brazilian itineraries depart from Santos, with optional embarkation in Rio de Janeiro, between 10/23/2026 and 03/26/2027, and none has Maceió as embarkation or port call. The stops in Maceió are therefore ship repositioning calls, with no cabin sales starting here. If Corazul opens sales with embarkation in Alagoas, the date will be listed as “to be confirmed” until it appears on the official website. The Buenavista’s 7-night Northeast itinerary departs from Santos in January 2027 with an overnight in Salvador; prices and cabins are in the Corazul Buenavista guide.

How much does a cruise from Maceió cost and what’s included?

The 7-night cruise departing from Maceió costs from R$ 4,454 per person in an interior cabin, on the 12/09/2026 departure, and goes up to R$ 6,464 in the week of 02/03/2027, right before Carnival (Oct/2026). The price already includes full board, port fees and the service charge, paid at booking.

Departure (Wednesday)Interior from
12/09/2026R$ 4,454 (Oct/2026)
12/16/2026R$ 4,704 (Oct/2026)
01/06/2027R$ 5,154 (Oct/2026)
01/13/2027R$ 4,994 (Oct/2026)
01/20/2027R$ 5,614 (Oct/2026)
01/27/2027R$ 5,544 (Oct/2026)
02/03/2027R$ 6,464 (Oct/2026)
02/10/2027R$ 5,164 (Oct/2026)
02/17/2027R$ 5,104 (Oct/2026)
02/24/2027R$ 5,304 (Oct/2026)
03/03/2027R$ 4,814 (Oct/2026)
03/10/2027R$ 5,294 (Oct/2026)
03/17/2027R$ 5,114 (Oct/2026)
03/24/2027R$ 5,294 (Oct/2026)

The lowest prices are on the two December departures before Christmas and on 03/03/2027 (R$ 4,814, Oct/2026). January and the Carnival week are the most expensive, because they coincide with school holidays.

According to the departure page on Logitravel (Oct/2026), the price includes the cabin with housekeeping, breakfast, lunch and dinner, the shows and activities, themed nights like the White Party, water, coffee and juice from the buffet machines, the port fees and the service charge. Not included are drinks (including soda), internet, shore excursions, spa, specialty restaurants, laundry and medical care. Anyone who drinks during the trip needs to add the package: the differences between Easy and Premium are in the MSC drinks package guide, and the full cost of a cruise is in the how much does a cruise cost guide.

The real total cost for a couple on the 12/09/2026 departure starts at R$ 8,908 for the interior cabin (2 × R$ 4,454, Oct/2026), taxes included. On top of that come drinks, internet and excursions, quoted only inside the booking, plus transportation to the port. Those living in Maceió pay no flight or hotel, and that’s where the local departure beats the one from Santos.

What is the MSC Virtuosa itinerary departing from Maceió?

The Virtuosa leaves Maceió at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, spends two days at sea, calls at Santos on Saturday, Búzios on Sunday and Salvador on Tuesday, and returns to Maceió at 9 a.m. the following Wednesday. That’s three days of sailing in seven nights.

DayPortTime
1 (Wednesday)Maceió: embarkationDeparts at 5 p.m.
2 and 3At seaFull days at sea
4 (Saturday)Santos6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
5 (Sunday)Búzios9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
6At seaFull day at sea
7 (Tuesday)Salvador8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
8 (Wednesday)Maceió: disembarkationArrival at 9 a.m.

Times from the departure page on Logitravel, consulted on 10/10/2026. The first two days at sea are the part that divides opinions the most: for those who want the pool, spa and onboard programming, it’s relaxation; for those who get seasick or want to explore cities, it’s the weak point of the week. In Santos the ship stays 11 hours, enough for the aquarium and the historic center, but not for heading up to São Paulo with any comfort.

The same ship also boards passengers in Santos on Saturdays and in Salvador on Tuesdays, and those who get on in Maceió share the ship with them: each group starts the week in a different port. Specs, restaurants, theater and kids’ area are in the MSC Virtuosa guide.

What cabin types are there and which one is worth it?

On the Virtuosa departing from Maceió there are four cabin groups, from R$ 4,454 (interior) to R$ 8,434 (suite) per person for 7 nights (Oct/2026). For most couples, the interior cabin does the job: free time is spent in the common areas and at the ports of call.

TypeFrom, per personBest for
InteriorR$ 4,454 (Oct/2026)Those who want the lowest price and only use the cabin to sleep
Ocean view (window)R$ 4,664 (Oct/2026)Those who want natural light for just a little more
BalconyR$ 5,604 (Oct/2026)Those who will enjoy the three days at sea from the cabin
SuiteR$ 8,434 (Oct/2026)Families and those who want more space and service

The difference between interior and balcony is R$ 1,150 per person (Oct/2026), R$ 2,300 for the couple. With three days of sailing, that’s money that can go toward a balcony or a drinks package: those who spend the day at the pool miss the balcony less than those who enjoy quiet. Anyone prone to seasickness should prefer a cabin on the middle decks, near the center of the ship, where the motion is gentler.

Tip: on December departures, the Virtuosa’s balcony cabins are the first to sell out, and the price rises as the date approaches; check the balconies for your Wednesday.

How do you get to the port of Maceió for embarkation?

Embarkation takes place at the Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros do Porto de Maceió, at Rua Sá e Albuquerque, s/n, in the Jaraguá neighborhood, ZIP 57025-180, the address published on the port’s website. The terminal sits between Jaraguá and Pajuçara beaches, close to downtown and the hotel waterfront.

If you’re already on the waterfront, take a rideshare or taxi: from Pajuçara, Ponta Verde or Jatiúca the trip is short and doesn’t involve highways. Those arriving by plane land at Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport, in the north of the metro area, and cross the city to Jaraguá; in that case, a same-day flight is risky.

The time that matters is check-in. Under MSC’s boarding rules, check-in and boarding close 2 hours before the ship departs: since the Virtuosa leaves at 5 p.m., the cutoff is 3 p.m., and the e-ticket gives you an individual arrival time at the terminal. Large suitcases are checked in at the entrance and reach the cabin at night; keep documents, medication and swimwear in your carry-on.

The terminal parking is the point still to be confirmed. The terminal concession, signed in 2026, plans a new 112-space parking lot, but no price list or timeline has been published for the 2026/2027 season. Those driving in from the countryside should ask MSC when closing the booking or leave the car at the hotel and take a rideshare.

Where to stay in Maceió the night before embarkation?

For those coming from out of town, the best bet is to stay in Pajuçara on Tuesday, the night before embarkation: it’s the waterfront closest to the port of Jaraguá, and the trip to the terminal on Wednesday is short. Ponta Verde and Jatiúca are a bit farther, with more restaurants and hotel options.

According to Booking listings, Pajuçara hotels appear 2.2–2.6 km from downtown, Ponta Verde ones 3–4.2 km and Jatiúca ones 4–4.9 km. The list with prices, ratings and breakfast is in the hotels in Maceió guide. Those arriving by flight on Tuesday can still enjoy the afternoon at the beach and have dinner on the waterfront without rushing.

The hotel night also solves the timing issue: check-out is usually at noon, and ship check-in closes at 3 p.m. Ask the hotel to store your bags and have lunch near Pajuçara before heading to the port. For the return, arrival in Maceió is at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, early enough to catch an afternoon flight.

To sleep near the port of Jaraguá the night before, filter by Pajuçara and free cancellation: see hotels in Pajuçara on Booking.

If you have a day to spare before embarkation, the classic tours departing from the waterfront are the Pajuçara natural pools, Praia do Gunga and the city tour with Praia do Francês; all get back in time to turn in early before the ship.

What documents do I need to board?

On Brazil-only itineraries, such as the 7-night Virtuosa and the one-way to Santos, MSC accepts a Brazilian ID, passport or driver’s license; the digital driver’s license is only valid if shown through the official app, not as a photo. On the MSC Divina crossing to Barcelona, only the passport is valid, with a minimum validity of 6 months, according to the MSC documents page.

Tip: on Brazil-only itineraries, the ship’s medical center is paid separately and the public health system doesn’t cover you on board; insurance with medical expenses and cancellation covers both ends. get a travel insurance quote.

The document must be the original and in good condition, with a recognizable photo. Minors under 18 traveling without both parents need written authorization, with a notarized signature; the step-by-step for each case is in the cruise documents guide. On the Costa Diadema, check the rule on the Costa e-ticket.

Also bring the e-ticket printed or on your phone, the credit card that will be linked to the onboard account and any continuous-use medication in your carry-on. Onboard charges are in reais on domestic itineraries.

Is it worth it? Who it’s for and who it’s not for

It’s worth it for those living in Alagoas or nearby who want a one-week cruise with no flight or hotel: the price starts at the same level as Santos departures, and the savings are in transportation. It’s not worth it for those who get seasick easily or want to explore cities, because there are three days at sea and port calls of 9 to 11 hours.

Worth it for: couples and groups of friends wanting their first cruise; families with children, thanks to the ship’s kids’ clubs; those who want to pay in reais and in installments; those with only one week of vacation who prefer to leave from and return to their own city.

Not worth it for: those who get seasick easily (two days at sea right at the start; see the seasickness on a cruise guide); those who want a quiet ship, since the Virtuosa carries more than 6,000 guests; those who want New Year’s Eve on board departing from Maceió, which doesn’t exist this season; and those who want the Buenavista with drinks included, which only boards in Santos and Rio.

Those with only a long holiday weekend can test the ship on the 3-night one-way to Santos, from R$ 1,904 per person (Oct/2026), and fly back. The math works better for those who already had plans in São Paulo: adding the return flight, the difference from the full week shrinks.

What nobody tells you about boarding in Maceió

The return arrival at 9 a.m. also has a catch: disembarkation is by groups, and checked luggage comes out in order of the call. If you book a flight on Wednesday, leave at least the early afternoon free, because leaving the terminal takes time on a passenger-change day.

Conclusion

For those living in Maceió, the best buy is the Virtuosa on 12/09 or 03/03/2027, the cheapest Wednesdays of the season, from R$ 4,454 and R$ 4,814 per person (Oct/2026). Those who want the Christmas week should choose 12/16, returning to Maceió on 12/23. Before booking, check three things in the reservation: the fare’s cancellation penalty, the check-in time on the e-ticket and whether the drinks package is worth it for your group. If the doubt is between ports, compare with the cruise from Salvador and the cruise from Santos.
