The five cities below held public, free parties for New Year’s Eve from December 31, 2025 to January 1, 2026, and are the reference for the celebration from December 31, 2026 to January 1, 2027.
Four of them are less than 200 km from the capital. Holambra is in the Campinas region; Águas de Lindóia and Serra Negra are part of the Circuito das Águas, near the border with Minas Gerais and about 30 km from each other; Brotas is in the center of the state, farther out; and Águas de São Pedro is near Piracicaba.

Águas de Lindóia 2025/26 edition: the band Flash n’Pop played from 10 pm at Praça Adhemar de Barros, downtown, and the City Hall set off silent fireworks at midnight. Glass bottles and sound equipment around the square were banned (Tribuna das Águas, 12/30/2025).
Serra Negra 2025/26 edition: the lineup started the night before, on 12/30, with a Legião Urbana Cover show at 8 pm at Praça Prefeito João Zelante. On the 31st, the Show da Virada was on Avenida Laudo Natel, downtown, from 9 pm, with Paulinho do Cavaco, Banda Vintage and Jota Quest Cover for the countdown. Two well-known resorts in the region still had no 2027 package published as of 10/09/2026. Mavsa Resort, in Cesário Lange, about 90 minutes from the capital, is all inclusive and rated 9.1 on Booking, but had no availability for the New Year’s dates. Grande Hotel São Pedro, the Senac hotel-school in Águas de São Pedro, was selling Christmas from 12/22 to 12/27 and the January package, with no New Year’s package on the hotel’s promotions page. The choice comes down to three things: how far you want to drive, whether the family has small kids, and whether the idea is a party in the square or everything handled at the resort.
- Walk back and small-town vibe: Holambra, with hotels less than 1 km from Rua Coberta.
- Thermal spa town with a festival after the 1st: Águas de Lindóia, which followed New Year’s with the Summer Festival from January 2 to 4, 2026.

In Águas de Lindóia, the best-rated inns are about 4 km from Praça Adhemar de Barros, on a mountain road: take a taxi or go with a driver who isn’t drinking.
At the resorts, the party is inside the hotel itself, and getting back means going from the ballroom to your room. In the early hours of January 1st, ride-hailing apps may be slow or unavailable in small towns; arrange your ride before leaving the hotel and avoid hitting the road right after midnight.

New Year’s pitfalls in the countryside: what nobody tells you
New Year’s in the countryside is relaxed, but it has its own traps, and the biggest one is logistics between cities: party downtown, hotel up the hill and resort far from the square. Resort packages also have stay rules that catch those deciding at the last minute.
- Resort packages require several nights: Cassorova requires 4, and Club Med, 5 nights. If you only want the night of the 31st, you’re out.
- Hotels sell out early: as of 10/09/2026, Mavsa and Cassorova already had no availability on Booking for the New Year’s dates.
- Glass and speakers were banned in the Águas de Lindóia square in 2025/26; bring drinks in cans or plastic cups.
- Driving in the early hours: driving back right after the fireworks is the biggest risk. Sleep in the party town.

Weather and plan B for rain on New Year’s in the countryside
December is summer and peak rainy season in São Paulo’s countryside: days are hot and late-afternoon and evening downpours are common. In the mountain towns of the Circuito das Águas, like Serra Negra and Águas de Lindóia, nights tend to be cooler than in the capital.
