Paulista or a paid party: decide this first
Paulista is for anyone who wants a street celebration, doesn’t mind standing, can handle big crowds and would rather not pay for a ticket. The zero cost applies only to entry: lodging, food and the trip back still land in your budget. Since the 2027 stage, entrances, duration and lineup haven’t been announced, choose this option for the public experience, not for a specific performer.
A paid party works better for anyone who wants to know the address, opening hours and what will be served in advance. Depending on the package, it can also offer a covered area, a table or a kids’ space. The ticket, however, doesn’t automatically solve your trip back: Canindé, Bosque Esperia and Guarapiranga are far from Paulista and require their own plans.
Paulista is worth it if the public party is your priority and you can get back to your hotel by metro, bus or on foot according to the special operation. A paid party makes more sense when food, shelter, a seat or a family-friendly setting matter more than being on the avenue.

New Year’s Eve on Paulista: what to expect and what’s still unconfirmed
Avenida Paulista was the address of the city’s celebration last New Year’s Eve. The City Hall’s January 1, 2026 recap records a free program with more than 14 hours of shows and 15 minutes of fireworks described as silent. Those numbers belong to the 2026 edition; they are not the confirmed schedule or duration for 2027.

Who will perform on New Year’s Eve on Paulista 2027?
The lineup for this edition hasn’t been announced yet. The source to follow for the schedule, entrance points and rules is the Municipal Department of Culture. Avoid using a 2026 poster to pick the performer you plan to see this coming New Year’s Eve.
Paid parties and tickets: compare your options
Private parties have their own locations and rules. Choose based on what the ticket actually offers, without assuming a party in São Paulo works like a VIP area on Paulista.
| Party | Includes | Price observed | Tickets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sampa Festival Confirmed 2027 | Premium open bar and open food, shows, covered and open areas, fireworks and breakfast; entry for ages 18 and up. | In September 2026, R$ 450–520, plus fees, depending on the category. | Ticket360. |
| Utopic Festival Announced | Premium open bar, electronic music, covered and open areas, stage design, big screens and fireworks, according to the promotional channel. | In September 2026, no published price range on the page consulted. | Ingresse, accessed through the Timelapse channel. |
| La Vieiras Confirmed 2027 | Open bar, open food, live music, one table per family, kids’ area and fireworks, from 8 pm to 3 am. | In September 2026, R$ 249–680, plus fees, depending on age. | Sympla. |
Sampa Festival 2027, in Canindé Confirmed 2027
The ticketing page linked by the organizer announces the event for 12/31/2026, at Sonora Garden, Rua Comendador Nestor Pereira, 33, rated 18+. Tickets are already on sale. In September 2026, tickets cost R$ 450–520, plus fees, depending on the category. The header indicated a 9 pm opening and the service text said 8:30 pm: confirm the valid time on your ticket before heading out.
The Sampa Festival website advertises open bar, open food and acts such as Nuwance, Matheuzinho and Vou de Táxi for 2027. Before buying, check the final menu, category and fees: the page itself mixes references from previous editions in part of the text, although the date, venue and 2027 ticket sales are published.
Utopic, in Bosque Esperia Announced
The Timelapse promotional channel lists Utopic for 12/31/2026 at Bosque Esperia, with electronic music and open bar. The description comes from that channel; in September 2026, the page said ticket types, sections and prices had not yet been officially announced. Check the ticket for this edition before treating the option as a done deal.
To compare the two options, ask for confirmation of table or seat, included food, re-entry rules and accessibility. Included drinks, a covered area and a seat are different perks.
La Vieiras, in Guarapiranga Confirmed 2027
The official sale through Sympla announces a party at Yacht Club Santo Amaro from 8 pm to 3 am, with open bar, open food, live music, fireworks, an exclusive table per family and a kids’ area. In September 2026, adults cost R$ 680 plus a R$ 68 fee; children aged 7 to 14, R$ 399 plus R$ 39.90; and children aged 1 to 6, R$ 249 plus R$ 24.90.
It’s the most clearly family-oriented option among the three compared, but it’s in the Guarapiranga area. Before buying, calculate the real distance from your hotel and decide who will handle the trip back: the party ends at 3 am, and a rideshare can mean waiting, surge pricing and a pickup point far from the entrance.
How to get to Paulista and plan your trip back
Which stations serve the party
Consolação, Trianon-Masp and Brigadeiro sit under Avenida Paulista on Line 2–Green; Paraíso, also on Line 2, serves the end near Rua Vergueiro and connects with Line 1–Blue. Paulista-Pernambucanas station, on Line 4–Yellow, connects to Consolação. The closest station isn’t always the best: the stage, security checks, crowd flow and closed entrances can force a longer walk.
How late does the metro run on New Year’s Eve
The 2027 operation hasn’t been published yet. As a reference, for the 2026 edition the state transport announcement kept Paraíso, Brigadeiro and Trianon-Masp open for boarding and disembarking throughout the night. Consolação closed at 10 am on December 31 and only reopened after 4:40 am on January 1. The other stations on lines 1, 2, 3 and 15 allowed boarding and disembarking until 2 am; after that, they were for disembarking only.
That setup answers a common question: “the metro is open” doesn’t mean every station accepts entries. For 2027, check the announcement published in the last days of December and write down your return boarding station. If the previous operation repeats, Brigadeiro or Paraíso tend to spread out the crowd leaving the central axis better; that’s a reference, not a confirmation.
How to get back after midnight
Plan three layers. The first is the metro: save the station authorized for boarding and an alternative on the same line. The second is night buses and SPTrans special lines. Last New Year’s Eve, there were 500 vehicles on 46 lines, with drop-offs on nearby streets, but 2027 numbers and routes haven’t been released yet. The third is a taxi or rideshare, with a meeting point outside the closed perimeter.
Don’t arrange your car pickup on the Paulista sidewalk. Walk to an open street only after checking that day’s closures and share the exact spot with your driver. Keep your battery, hotel address and transit card handy; cell signal and car availability can get worse when the crowd leaves the event all at once. If you have reduced mobility or a small child, booking within walking distance is usually the most predictable protection.
Which streets are usually closed
The 2027 closures haven’t been announced yet. For the previous edition, the city guide reported a full closure of Avenida Paulista, Alameda Santos and Alameda São Carlos do Pinhal, from midnight on December 31 until the first hour of January 2. SPTrans also recorded detours and drop-off points at Consolação, Brigadeiro Luís Antônio, Alameda Santos, Cincinato Braga, São Carlos do Pinhal and Antônio Carlos.
Use the previous edition’s map only to understand the scale of the closures. Stage setup and the São Silvestre Race can change traffic before the party starts. Anyone arriving by car risks finding inaccessible garages, streets with temporarily changed directions and rideshare pickups far from the hotel.

Consolação, Trianon-Masp and Brigadeiro are stations on the Metro’s Line 2–Green that serve the area. This geographic reference helps you choose lodging, but it doesn’t confirm which entrances will work during the special New Year’s operation.
Plan your trip there and back together: hotel address, available station or boarding point and an alternative if there’s a closure. When the edition’s plan comes out, check which stations allow boarding and disembarking and how late the connections run. Don’t rely only on the travel time shown by the map on a regular day.
For Sampa Festival or Utopic, map out the route to the party’s own address. Staying near Paulista doesn’t eliminate the trip to Canindé or Bosque Esperia. If you arrive in the city on 12/31, factor in your arrival, luggage and check-in without compromising your event entry time.
Where to stay for New Year’s Eve in São Paulo
For Paulista, start with lodging on the avenue and on streets near the Line 2–Green stations. Compare the exact address with the event access point: saying just “Jardins” or “Bela Vista” doesn’t tell you the real walking distance.
- Party on Paulista: prioritize a viable route back to the hotel, respecting whatever closures are announced.
- Private party: compare a hotel near the venue with a base that also works for the rest of your trip.
- Hotel with a dinner: check whether lodging, dinner and party are sold together or separately.
- Flexible booking: check the cancellation deadline, checkout time and any late check-out fee.
How much it costs: compare the total trip
A party without a ticket can still require lodging, transport and food. To compare options, use the same dates, the same number of nights and the same number of people. Add airfare or transport to São Paulo, hotel, food, ticket with fees and the trip back at the end of the party.
If you live in the city, remove the components you won’t use. If you’re coming from abroad, run the numbers from your actual origin. There’s no single reliable range for all these scenarios, nor enough evidence to claim rates always double on New Year’s Eve.
With kids: timing, crowds and bathrooms
For a small child, the main criterion is departure time, not midnight. The previous edition started in the afternoon and ended in the early hours; the 2027 schedule hasn’t been announced. Arriving early reduces the distance covered at peak times, but increases total time on your feet, exposed to heat, noise and crowds. Decide beforehand whether the family will leave right after the fireworks or stay until the end.
Strollers were allowed after inspection at the previous edition, but that doesn’t turn the crowd into an easy environment for a stroller. Carry ID and a contact number in your child’s pocket, agree on a meeting point and avoid getting squeezed in near the stage. Kids’ ear protection helps with music and shouting; so-called silent fireworks reduce the bangs without eliminating the sound of the party.
The 2027 map of bathrooms and support stations hasn’t been released yet. Don’t count on a restaurant, mall or hotel accepting non-guests. For a child in potty training or who can’t handle lines, staying within a short walk of the authorized entrance gives you a backup bathroom and an early exit. Brigadeiro and Paraíso are worth comparing since they were designated for the trip back in the previous operation.
Shows, crowds and standing for long periods should factor into your choice. “Silent fireworks” don’t guarantee a noise-free night: there’s music and a crowd. Anyone who needs a seat, an accessible bathroom or a quick exit should confirm those conditions for the option they choose.
For Paulista, check the services map and the edition’s rules once published. For private parties, verify the minimum age before buying; the Sampa Festival consulted is for ages 18 and up. Agree on a meeting point and save the address of your lodging even without internet.
In the days before, check the weather forecast and the rules on allowed items to choose your clothes, shoes and rain protection. Don’t bring an item just because it was allowed at another edition.
Accessibility on Paulista and on public transport
The avenue’s roadway avoids some of the unevenness of the sidewalks, but the event spans a long axis and requires moving between the entrance, stage, bathroom, food area and station. The real distance depends on the 2027 map. Before heading out, confirm which side of the avenue the elevator is on and which entrance will stay open; crossing blocks against the flow can be more tiring than the metro ride.
At the previous edition, City Hall announced an area for people with disabilities at the main stage and reversible lanes for access to hospitals. The position, capacity, companion policy and entry method for that area still need confirmation for 2027. At a paid party, ask for a written answer about a step-free route, accessible bathroom, flooring, seating and parking before buying.
The Metro states that its stations are accessible, with elevators and tactile paving, and that people with disabilities or reduced mobility can request assistance. Paraíso, Brigadeiro and Trianon-Masp have elevators. On event night, crowds and closed entrances change the route; look for a staff member before joining the longest line.
What’s open and closed on January 1
The detailed January 1, 2027 calendar hasn’t been published yet. The day is a national holiday and City Hall included the date in the municipal recess, so offices and many facilities operate with closures or special hours. Municipal hospitals, UPAs and emergency rooms maintain urgent care; appointments, banks and administrative services shouldn’t be on your itinerary.
For the 2026 edition, City Hall reported that municipal parks would open three hours later, CEUs and most sports centers would stay closed and municipal markets and produce markets wouldn’t open. Elevado Presidente João Goulart operated as a park. These rules help you build a provisional plan, but they need to be reconfirmed for 2027.
Restaurants, malls, state museums and private attractions set their own hours. Book lunch if it’s essential and check the venue’s official page in the last week of December. For the first day, a park with confirmed hours or a short walk near your hotel is safer than crossing the city counting on several attractions being open.
Weather and a Plan B for summer rain
A forecast for the night of December 31 will only be useful close to the date. The risk of rain, however, should be part of your plan from the booking stage: INMET’s climate normal for December in São Paulo is around 231 mm, spread across roughly 13 days with measurable rain. That doesn’t predict New Year’s Eve, but it shows summer rain is a real possibility.
On Paulista, wear a light rain jacket and grippy shoes; umbrellas appeared on the previous edition’s list of prohibited items. Protect your phone and documents in a waterproof bag. If there’s a storm warning, avoid tunnels, low-lying areas and temporary structures, follow official guidance and don’t wait for heavy rain to start before deciding to leave.
The best Plan B is contractual. Choose a refundable hotel and, if you buy a party ticket, confirm the covered area and cancellation policy. A hotel with a dinner reduces travel, but only replaces the party if dinner, entertainment and access are included in writing. Check the INMET forecast and Civil Defense alerts in the week of your trip.
