To figure out where to stay in Interlagos, think train: the Autódromo José Carlos Pace sits in São Paulo’s south zone, and the reference point is the Line 9-Emerald. Santo Amaro balances hotels and a short ride back; the Interlagos neighborhood puts you closest; Pinheiros offers more options and a connection to Line 4, with a longer journey.

Where to stay in Interlagos, near the racetrack?

Near the Autódromo de Interlagos, the best bases are the Interlagos neighborhood itself and Santo Amaro, because they’re in the south zone and on the same Line 9-Emerald that stops at Autódromo station. The closer you are, the shorter the ride back at night, when everyone leaves at once.

Hotels right next to the circuit are few and sell out early on event dates. That’s why many people end up in Santo Amaro, which has more options and the connection to Line 5-Lilac. Further north, the Berrini and Vila Olímpia area has business-travel hotels, also with a Line 9 station, and often has better rates on weekends.

The rule of thumb: look for a hotel a few minutes’ walk from a Line 9 station and check that route on the map before you pay. “Near the line” can mean a long walk, and that walk is what hurts on the way back at dawn. To start your search, check out hotels in Santo Amaro on Booking.

Interlagos, Santo Amaro or Pinheiros: which neighborhood to choose?

Stay in Interlagos if your only goal is the event and you want the shortest ride back; in Santo Amaro if you want a balance of price, options and journey; and in Pinheiros if you’ll enjoy the city before or after, accepting more train time on the way out.

PinheirosLine 9 + connection to Line 4-YellowBars, restaurants, easy to reach downtownLonger journey; crowded train on the way back

For groups, it’s also worth comparing apartments in the south zone, but check the late-night check-in policy and the real distance to the station. If you prefer a hotel in Interlagos, you’ll find the search already filtered at hotels in Interlagos; for a base in Pinheiros, use hotels in Pinheiros.

Santo Amaro is the most popular middle ground because it brings together two lines: those coming from the Moema and Ibirapuera side take Line 5 and switch to Line 9 without leaving the system. That also makes the return easier, when the goal is to reach your hotel with as few transfers as possible.

Where to stay for Lollapalooza, the GP, Primavera Sound and The Town

The right neighborhood changes little from event to event; what changes is the exit time. A festival ends around midnight or later, so a short ride back is worth more. A Formula 1 race ends in the afternoon and has the Express Train, so Pinheiros works well.

Lollapalooza Brasil

Lollapalooza Brasil 2027 takes place on March 19, 20 and 21, 2027, with gates at 11 a.m. and closing scheduled for 1 a.m. Three days in a row call for a hotel near Line 9; the festival also announces an official shuttle with pickups at hotels such as Intercontinental, Ibis Barra Funda and Holiday Inn Anhembi and at Parque Ibirapuera (Lollapalooza transport page, Oct 2026). Tickets at Lollapalooza 2027 tickets, VIP area at Lolla Lounge and Comfort and artists in the Lollapalooza 2027 line-up.

São Paulo Formula 1 GP

The São Paulo GP 2026 runs from November 6 to 8, with the race on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Express Train costs R$ 35 round trip (Oct 2026), with boarding at Pinheiros, Morumbi Claro and Villa-Lobos–Jaguaré and disembarking at Cidade Dutra station, according to the GP mobility plan. So for F1, a hotel near those stations pays off as much as sleeping in Interlagos.

Primavera Sound São Paulo

Primavera Sound São Paulo 2026 will be on December 5 and 6, 2026, with gates at 12:30 p.m. and closing at midnight. For the two days, book the Saturday and Sunday nights and prefer Santo Amaro or Interlagos, which shorten the ride back after the last show.

The Town

The Town 2027 will have five days, on September 4, 5, 6, 11 and 12, 2027. If you’re going to both weekends, you can switch hotels in between; if you’re going to just one, use the same logic as Lollapalooza: Line 9 nearby and a short ride back. The city’s full calendar is at events in São Paulo in 2027.

How to get to the Interlagos racetrack by train

The most-used station is Autódromo, on ViaMobilidade’s Line 9-Emerald, with a fare of R$ 5.40 (Oct 2026). During the GP, organizers also use Cidade Dutra station, where the Express Train disembarks.

The walk depends on your section. According to data from the GP organizer, from Cidade Dutra station to the Porto Grandstand is about 700 m (10 minutes), and to Sector T, 2.6 km (35 minutes). Check the gate printed on your ticket before choosing a station and hotel.

How to get back from Interlagos after the show or the race

The ride back is the hardest part: tens of thousands of people leave together, the train gets packed and rideshare prices spike. Autódromo station operates from 4 a.m. to midnight on normal days, according to the GP organizer (Oct 2026); during festivals, extended service is announced close to the date.

Three moves help: leave a few minutes before the last show or wait for the first wave to pass; agree on a meeting point away from the gate, because cell signal often fails; and have a plan B if the train stops running, like splitting a car to Santo Amaro, where there’s more supply.

Tip: A hotel up to ten minutes’ walk from a Line 9 station matters more than stars: it’s what defines how long it takes you to get to bed after the event. See hotels in Santo Amaro.

What nobody tells you about Interlagos

How to get to São Paulo and your hotel from the airport

Congonhas is the closest airport to the south zone and Interlagos; Guarulhos receives most domestic and international flights, but it’s on the other side of the city. If you’re arriving with luggage, you can book a fixed-price transfer from the airport to your hotel.

A private transfer avoids the taxi line and surge pricing on your arrival night: see the options at airport transfer with Kiwitaxi. From Guarulhos to Santo Amaro or Interlagos, the route crosses the city, so expect heavy traffic on Friday afternoon.
