What closes during the holiday? At the country hotels in Águas de Lindóia and Ouro Fino, the published 2027 rate is already named as a 5-night Carnival package.

Is that legal? Proteste considers it abusive to force guests to book several nights and cites the Consumer Protection Code (art. 39) and the General Tourism Law, which defines a nightly rate as a 24-hour period (Proteste’s position). In practice, the hotel can refuse the shorter booking and the dispute becomes a complaint at Procon after the trip; don’t count on that to secure a room during the holiday.

How to dodge the package: look for rates on the hotel’s own booking engine and on Booking with shorter dates (Saturday to Tuesday), because not every hotel enforces the minimum; swap the resort town for a neighboring one with more supply; or check in on Ash Wednesday, when the nightly rate returns to normal.
