🇧🇷 POR | 🇺🇸 EN | 🇪🇸 ES

The Venice Biennale 2027, dedicated to architecture, will run from May 8 to November 21, 2027, with a preview on May 6 and 7. Giardini and Arsenale will be open from 10am to 6pm and closed on Mondays. Tickets were not yet available as of August 20, 2026, and sales will be online only. Ideally, set aside two days: one for each main venue, leaving the scattered pavilions and historic Venice for separate trips. Here’s how to choose your base and avoid unnecessary back-and-forth.

What’s confirmed

The 20th International Architecture Exhibition will be curated by Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu, and its announced title is “Do Architecture — For the Possibility of Coexistence Facing a Real Reality.” Giardini brings together historic national pavilions; Arsenale offers an extensive sequence of exhibition spaces. Participations and collateral events expand the map into other neighborhoods. Don’t try to see everything in one day: the scale, the lines and the reading time make the visit exhausting. Monday should be dedicated to Venice, since the official venues are closed.

Tickets and program

The organization says tickets will be available soon and that sales and guided tours will be online only. With no published price, there’s no reliable basis for an estimate. Buy at labiennale.org, and check validity, number of entries and discount conditions. Some collateral exhibitions may have their own rules. Avoid resellers who use the name “Biennale” without identifying the official event.

How to get there

Giardini and Arsenale are in eastern Venice. The vaporetto cuts down on walking, but it gets crowded; walking routes are possible from Castello and San Marco. Buy the transport pass only after calculating your days. Arrive early at your priority venue and don’t book a departing train right after closing. Luggage should stay at your accommodation or in a proper storage facility, since the cloakrooms only accept small items.

How to turn the event into a trip

Castello, Riva degli Schiavoni and San Marco form the natural extension of your visit. Set aside another half-day for neighborhoods like Dorsoduro and Cannaregio, without loading up on exhibitions.

Where to stay

Castello puts you close to both venues; San Marco is central and expensive; Cannaregio offers more local life but requires commuting. Mestre lowers the nightly rate, but adds train and vaporetto. Compare the total cost and avoid switching hotels.

Planning without surprises

Book transport and accommodation with cancellation while the program can still change. Compare door-to-door time, not just the distance on the map: closures, lines and special operations make a well-connected hotel more useful than a cheap, isolated nightly rate. Arrive at your destination with a buffer, avoid a flight right after the last session and keep copies of your bookings.

When buying, check the domain, date, city, product and transfer policy. Don’t pay strangers by Pix or bank transfer, and don’t share QR codes. Save your receipt, use two-factor authentication and follow only the organizer, the authorized box office and the venue. A social media post is no substitute for the official channel.

Bring your ID, a charged phone, an external battery, layered clothing and weather protection. Check the limits on bags, cameras, food and bottles. People with disabilities should verify accessible transport, companion entry, platforms, restrooms and ticket pickup before buying. Families need to check the minimum age and identify a meeting point.

Itinerary and realistic budget

Build your budget in five parts: admission, accommodation, transport to the destination, daily commuting and food. Fees, baggage, lockers, parking and shuttles can turn the cheaper ticket into the most expensive option. Run a simulation in the local currency and keep a second payment method. In your itinerary, leave the first day for arrival and getting familiar with transport. During the event, choose priorities instead of trying to cover the entire program. On the last day, preserve time to rest, pick up your luggage and deal with lines. That buffer reduces the chance of missing a flight, train or reservation because of an operational delay.

Review the plan 72 hours in advance and again on the morning of your visit. Save the address, gate, ticket and offline map, but keep the official app updated for alerts. Share your itinerary with someone, agree on a physical meeting point and note down the accommodation’s contact. If something changes, follow the organizer and local authorities, not forwarded messages. Also keep insurance, passport and receipts in a place separate from the phone you use at the entrance. Check the weather forecast and the last public transport time too. Carry a small financial buffer for route changes, food, water or lockers during the trip.

Do one last check before heading out. If the ticket information differs from this guide, the organizer and the official box office take precedence. Note the change so you can update your planning and keep other reservations from depending on outdated information.
