The euro amounts were converted using the European Central Bank reference rate of 10/02/2026, € 1 = R$ 5.8610, and each item was rounded to reais. Your card’s or exchange office’s rate will be different and may include IOF and spread. The insurance line uses the advertised starting price; the final policy may cost more. The tours included in the budget are free walking routes through Praça do Comércio and Ribeira; tickets, tips for free tours, shopping, drinks and taxis are not included.
Flights to Lisbon: São Paulo, Rio and peak season
Departing from São Paulo, a direct round-trip flight to Lisbon showed up at R$ 4,230 for 11/16–11/22/2026 and also for 11/16–11/25; for 11/16–11/30, at R$ 4,445. These are per-adult economy prices seen on Google Flights on 10/03/2026, subject to availability and baggage rules. The budget uses the direct options, since a cheap connection can eat up a full day in Portugal.
From Rio, the direct flight for 11/16–11/22 showed up at R$ 4,496 per adult; the lowest listed price, with a connection, was R$ 4,263. For 07/12–07/19/2027, the European summer season, direct flights appeared at R$ 5,800 from São Paulo and R$ 7,175 from Rio. Compare arrival dates: a red-eye fare or one arriving the next day can change your first hotel night and how much time you actually have. If you’re flying from another Brazilian city, treat the tables as a framework and swap the airfare line for a quote from your origin.
Booking with miles is an alternative, but FlipMilhas didn’t show a bookable award fare for these days and routes. That’s why no mileage figure went into the total. Before transferring points, search availability for the exact dates, check the cash fees and compare the opportunity cost of your points with the R$ 4,230 to R$ 4,445 direct flights in the table.

Where to stay in Lisbon and Porto: hotel prices
For six nights, the two hotels cost R$ 2,309 for one person and R$ 2,498 for two in the same room, already including the taxes shown by Booking on 10/03/2026. Hotel Do Chile is in Arroios, Lisbon, and showed breakfast included in the rate; Hotel São José is in Porto’s central area, but breakfast wasn’t part of that rate. These are practical bases for splitting the trip without changing hotels in every city.

The split was three nights in Lisbon and three in Porto for seven days; five and four nights for ten; seven and seven for fifteen. In Lisbon, room and taxes came to R$ 1,360, R$ 2,267 and R$ 3,173 for solo; R$ 1,496, R$ 2,529 and R$ 3,562 for a couple. In Porto, it was R$ 949, R$ 1,266 and R$ 2,215 for solo; R$ 1,002, R$ 1,337 and R$ 2,339 for a couple. These are total amounts for the periods 11/16–11/19, 11/16–11/21 or 11/16–11/23 in Lisbon and 11/19–11/22, 11/21–11/25 or 11/23–11/30 in Porto, seen on Booking on 10/03/2026.
A couple pays less per person because they share the room, even when the rate for two is a bit higher. For ten days, for example, R$ 3,866 in lodging means R$ 1,933 per person; traveling alone costs R$ 3,533 in hotel alone. To pick another accommodation tier, keep the same nights and occupancy in your search. Taking a per-night price from another month and multiplying it by your itinerary can hide taxes and weekend differences. To plan your days in the capital, see the three-day Lisbon guide; for the second base, the two-day Porto itinerary helps you decide whether four nights are enough.
How much to set aside for food
The food line in the budget equals € 37 per person per day in Lisbon and € 39.70 in Porto, based on dishes published in October 2026. In Lisbon, the executive lunch at Real Palácio costs € 19 and the bacalhau at Sr. Brás in Acaso costs € 18; breakfast is already included in the Hotel Do Chile rate. In Porto, the granola at Mercador Café costs € 6.80, the executive lunch at Capa na Baixa, € 14.90, and the bacalhau à Brás at Vela Porto, € 18.
This basket is a spending yardstick, not a commitment to eat at these places every day. Executive lunches depend on service hours and Mercador is closed on Sundays; on that day, you’ll need to swap the meal for another option and redo the math. The total multiplies € 37 by three, five or seven days in Lisbon and € 39.70 by four, five or eight in Porto. A dessert, an extra coffee or a dinner above € 18 raises the spend. Buying food at the market can lower it, as long as your accommodation lets you store and prepare food. When comparing restaurants, check the menu and service before sitting down, especially in more touristy areas.
Lisbon–Porto train and city transport
The Alfa Pendular Lisbon–Porto costs € 35.70 per leg, and round trip comes to € 64.50 in Tourist class according to the CP 2026 price table. Since the flight in the budget departs from Lisbon, the math includes the round trip: € 64.50 per person, about R$ 378 at the reference rate used in the tables. Booking early, the class, the time or a promotion can change the price you pay. For the return on the same day as your flight, leave a comfortable buffer between the train and airport check-in; the total doesn’t include an extra night in Lisbon.

To get around the cities, the budget assumes two rides per person per day: € 1.72 per ride with Lisbon’s zapping and € 1.40 on Porto’s Andante Z2 fare, both from 2026. That comes to € 21.52 for seven days, € 31.20 for ten or € 46.48 for fifteen. A trip beyond the Z2 zone, the card’s initial top-up, transport to the airport and rideshare trips require extra cash. If your hotel is close to what you plan to visit, walking cuts this line; if you’re moving around a lot in one day, compare passes with single rides.
Internet, insurance and documents
The Portugal eSIM with 10 GB for 30 days costs € 16 on Yesim in October 2026, roughly R$ 94 at this budget’s exchange rate. The budget includes one chip per person, even in the couple’s budget, so both of you can split up during the day without relying on the same phone. Before paying, check whether your device supports eSIM and whether 10 GB matches your use of maps, calls and videos. The package duration covers all three itineraries; you don’t need to multiply € 16 by each week.
For insurance, Assist Card advertises plans starting at R$ 18 per day. The table uses that floor: R$ 126, R$ 180 or R$ 270 per person, depending on duration. The real premium depends on age, coverage, conditions and dates and may be higher. Get an individual quote before locking in your final budget. Brazilians with a standard passport are visa-exempt for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period in the Schengen area. Insurance isn’t a general entry requirement for visa-free travelers, but it’s advisable given medical expenses and unexpected events. The article on when travel insurance is mandatory breaks down the cases where the rule changes. Carry a valid passport and check how the EES, the new biometric border registration, and ETIAS for Brazilians work.
Tours: what’s in the budget
The November 2026 budget includes R$ 0 in paid tickets: a walking tour through Praça do Comércio in Lisbon and through Ribeira in Porto can fill part of your days without attraction tickets. It’s a budget scenario, not an average price for tours in Portugal. If you want to visit a monument, take a Douro cruise or enter an attraction, check the price for your desired day and add it to the total.
In Lisbon, a guided tour is a way to add historical context to the center. A day trip to Sintra, Cascais and Cabo da Roca takes a full day and makes more sense on ten- or fifteen-day itineraries, when your stay in the capital is longer. Dates and prices vary; none of them were included in the budget. To plan the day trip on your own, compare the logistics with the one-day Sintra itinerary before deciding what to book.
On a seven-day trip, it’s worth sticking to the walks and choosing at most one paid activity: transport between the two bases already eats up time and money. With fifteen days, there’s room to book an experience without squeezing Lisbon and Porto. The safe path is to set your total ceiling first, then add the tour with a real price and date; if the amount exceeds your ceiling, cut a hotel night or swap the activity, rather than assuming meals and transport will cost less than the lines above.

Frequently asked questions
Does traveling as a couple cost half the solo price per person?
No. In Portugal, a couple shares a room but pays for two flights, two train tickets, meals and insurance for two people. On the seven-day trip calculated above, R$ 15,568 for the couple equals R$ 7,784 per person, compared with R$ 8,844 for someone traveling alone.
How many miles do you need to fly to Lisbon?
There’s no reliable number for the dates in this budget: FlipMilhas didn’t show a specific award booking for 11/16–11/22, 11/16–11/25 or 11/16–11/30/2026. Search your origin and departure day before transferring points, add the booking fees and compare with the cash fare for the same flight.
Is travel insurance mandatory for Brazilians in Portugal?
Brazilians who are visa-exempt for short stays have no general obligation to present travel insurance on entry to Portugal. Even so, buying adequate coverage is advisable. The budget shows only the advertised starting price of R$ 18 per person per day; an individual policy may cost more.
Does the 15-day budget include a final night in Lisbon?
No. It’s seven nights in Lisbon and seven in Porto, with a train ride back to the capital on 11/30/2026 for the flight. If your flight time doesn’t leave room for that trip, add a night in Lisbon and redo the hotel, food and insurance figures for the new return date.
