What to check before paying for a Carnival package
- Is the agency registered with Cadastur? Travel agencies and tour operators need registration with the Ministry of Tourism; look up the name or CNPJ on Cadastur.
- Does the contract say what’s included? Hotel with name and address, flight with time, transfers, fees and, if there’s a party, the section or bloco.
- What’s the cancellation policy? Holiday packages usually carry steep penalties; compare with a hotel that offers free cancellation.
- How will you pay? Prefer credit card, which lets you dispute charges. Pix to an individual and “today only” are scam red flags.
- Is the hotel near the party? A cheap package sometimes puts you an hour from the festivities. Check it on the map.
