The turn from December 31, 2026 into January 1, 2027 will bring fireworks on the Strip and shows with fireworks at Fremont Street, according to Las Vegas Events. First, pick your party zone: walking back to the hotel tends to be the simplest option after midnight. Road closures and access rules for 2027 have not yet been published.

Las Vegas doesn’t concentrate New Year’s Eve on a single stage. In practice, there are three different products: watching the street fireworks on the Strip, joining the Fremont Street celebration, or buying a private experience with a rooftop, a show or a hotel stay. Comparing only “which party is better” hides the most expensive decision of the night: how to get back to your hotel when streets, buses, taxis and apps all operate under closures and detours.
What’s already confirmed for New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas 2027?
Las Vegas Events confirms America’s Party for December 31, 2026 and January 1, 2027. The announcement calls for a themed display of eight minutes at midnight, produced by Fireworks by Grucci and launched from nine hotel-casinos on the Strip. The same page confirms live shows and fireworks at the Fremont Street Experience.
The announcement still doesn’t list the nine launch hotels, the theme, the Fremont artists, gate times, ticket policy or closure map. These items are pending for the 2027 edition — they should not be filled in with information from last year’s celebration.

Strip or Fremont Street: which one fits your trip?
Strip: best for the big display and walking back
The Strip delivers the visual scale of New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas: multiple launch points and a boulevard that, when closed to cars, becomes a pedestrian zone. The 2027 announcement confirms the fireworks, but doesn’t use the word “free” or publish access control. As of this guide’s cutoff, no general admission had been announced for watching from the street. That’s different from saying every part of the Strip will have open access: crowds, police closures and private hotel entrances can limit where each person can move.
Choose the Strip if your priority is seeing the open-air spectacle and your hotel allows a realistic walk back. “Close” on the map needs to account for pedestrian bridges, closed crossings and the stretch of boulevard where you plan to stand.
Fremont Street: a concentrated party, but access still pending
In Downtown, the Fremont Street Experience will have shows and fireworks at America’s Party 2027. The specific lineup and entry conditions have not yet been published. For the edition that welcomed 2026, the city described Fremont as a ticketed event restricted to ages 21 and over; that’s history, not a confirmation for 2027.

Fremont usually makes more sense for those who want a stage, the Viva Vision canopy and a concentrated party, especially if staying in Downtown. Don’t book a hotel counting on free entry or allowing minors until the official 2027 page states those rules.
Paid parties and experiences already confirmed
Chéri Rooftop: elevated views with a set package
Chéri Rooftop, at Paris Las Vegas, advertises reception from 8 p.m. on 12/31/2026 to 1 a.m. on 01/01/2027. The price published on 09/09/2026 is US$ 300 per person, with open bar from 8 p.m. to midnight, served food, food stations, a DJ and a sparkling wine toast. Standard entry doesn’t include seating; VIP tables are booked separately, and the bar becomes paid after midnight.
Backstreet Boys at Sphere: a show before the countdown
The Venetian confirms Backstreet Boys at Sphere at 8 p.m. on December 31. It’s an option for those who want to make the show the main attraction, but it doesn’t automatically equal a party package or a guaranteed area for the fireworks. The page consulted didn’t show a price; check the official channel and ticket rules before combining the show with another New Year’s Eve spot.
Rio Las Vegas: a stay with a view, not a party ticket
The Rio Las Vegas New Year’s package offers panoramic suites with an advertised 180° view of the skyline. The offer requires a two-night minimum, full prepayment and is 100% non-refundable. Treat it as a lodging product with a view — not as a ticket to an open rooftop or a guarantee of a specific position relative to each launch.

Where to stay so you don’t depend on a car to get back
- Center Strip: the most practical base for watching the street fireworks and walking back. Confirm which hotel entrance will remain accessible and don’t rely on straight-line distance alone.
- Downtown: the logical choice for Fremont Street. It avoids crossing the city after midnight, but doesn’t solve tickets or minimum age while those rules are pending.
- Off the Strip: can work when the hotel itself offers a view or party and you don’t need to go out at midnight. Otherwise, the trip back is more exposed to detours and high demand.
To extend the trip without mixing decisions, also see the 4-day Las Vegas itinerary. Save the night of December 31 for a single axis: Strip or Downtown.

How do traffic, buses and getting back work on New Year’s Eve?
The RTC already states that buses will run on a Saturday schedule on 12/31/2026 and a Sunday schedule on 01/01/2027. The agency, however, has not yet published for this edition the free rides, detailed detours or any extended-hours routes. Last year’s celebration had free rides from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. and significant detours; use that only as a sign that special operations are usually announced close to the date, not as a promise for 2027.
Build a Plan A that ends on foot at your hotel and a Plan B with a pickup point outside the closed perimeter. Don’t set your app meeting point right on Las Vegas Boulevard. If you’re in Downtown, apply the same logic with an accessible street outside the event gates. Recheck the RTC and police maps in the last week of December.
A stress-free arrival for New Year’s Eve
- Flight: compare cash and miles fares on FlipMilhas and plan to arrive before the 31st.
- Transportation: check how to get to your hotel and choose a base you can walk back from. The special 2027 closures and detours have not yet been published.
- Car: save it for outside the night of 12/31, when there are closures. If you’re continuing the trip, compare rental companies on Rentcars.
- Insurance: before you fly, compare international coverage on Seguros Promo.
What items are banned on the Strip on the night of December 31?
The rules published by the Metropolitan Police Department apply on temporarily closed roads, including the stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Sunset Avenue. From 6 p.m. on December 31 to 6 a.m. on January 1, glass containers are banned. Backpacks, fanny packs, coolers, suitcases, computer or camera bags and bags larger than 12 × 6 × 12 inches (about 30.5 × 15.2 × 30.5 cm) are also not allowed, along with strollers and other human-powered vehicles, with medical exceptions provided for.
For unaccompanied minors under 18, police report a curfew on the Strip between 6 p.m. on 12/31 and 5 a.m. on 01/01 in the listed areas. That doesn’t turn a private party into a family event: each rooftop, show or venue can impose its own minimum age.
Is it cold in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve?
Yes, the night can be cold despite the desert climate. The National Weather Service’s December normals show an average high of 56.9°F and an average low of 39.6°F, about 13.8°C and 4.2°C. That’s not a forecast for 12/31/2026, but it justifies bringing warm layers for hours standing outdoors. Check the official forecast a few days before.
What to do on the other days of the trip
Save the New Year’s Eve day for the party you chose and leave excursions, tickets and tours for the other dates. Check each activity’s operating schedule on the calendar before buying.

Is it worth spending New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas?
It’s worth it if you accept that the real cost of the night is getting back to your hotel, not the ticket. The Strip fireworks and the fireworks shows on Fremont Street are confirmed by Las Vegas Events, and no general admission ticket had been announced for the Strip as of 09/09/2026. Private parties, like Chéri Rooftop at $300 per person, are optional. Pick a hotel within walking distance of the party, in Center Strip or Downtown, book with free cancellation and check closures and buses in the last week of December.
