A New Year’s Eve cruise departing from Buenos Aires in 2027 has one option with a stopover at the turn of the year: the MSC Splendida leaves on December 27, 2026 for nine nights, spends December 31 in Rio and plans to be off Copacabana at midnight. Logitravel showed a starting fare of R$ 10,254 per person in September 2026; confirm the cabin and the price before booking.

What is the itinerary of the New Year’s Eve cruise from Buenos Aires?

The turn from December 31, 2026 to January 1, 2027 happens on board. The MSC Splendida embarks in Buenos Aires on December 27, calls at Ilhabela, Rio de Janeiro, Copacabana, Ilha Grande and Punta del Este, and returns to Buenos Aires on January 5. That’s nine nights on board; the Copacabana passage is scheduled to span midnight on December 31.

The Logitravel listing confirms the 12/27 departure and the destinations. The detailed schedule published for this trip shows Rio during the day on the 31st, Copacabana at night and Ilha Grande on January 1. Ports of call and times are subject to maritime operations; don’t count on disembarking at Copacabana to watch the fireworks on the sand.

What you can see without an extra ticket: The view from the deck is included for anyone who has already booked the cruise, with no land-based grandstand. The ship’s position, fireworks visibility and access to outdoor areas depend on operations and onboard capacity.

How much does the cruise cost and what’s the total spend?

Logitravel listed the 12/27 MSC Splendida departure from R$ 10,254 per person in September 2026, with taxes indicated as included. The final quote depends on cabin, occupancy and conditions at the time of purchase; the lowest price doesn’t guarantee a cabin available for two people.

So R$ 20,508 (Sep/2026) is just the arithmetic floor for the cabin for two adults, not the cost of the trip. Add up airfare, one hotel night, transfers and the extras you choose; without origin and flight dates, giving a fixed “total” would be making it up.

Which cabin should you choose for New Year’s Eve?

An interior cabin tends to be the price entry point; an ocean view gives natural light and a balcony offers private space. None of them guarantees a front-row view of the fireworks: that depends on the side of the ship and the position set by navigation.

If the deck party is a priority, compare the balcony difference with drinks and other extras before paying more. For families, check the actual cabin capacity and the children’s policy in the booking flow, since the listing’s “price per person” doesn’t equal a family price.

Tip: choose the balcony for how you’ll use the cabin over the nine nights, not for a promise of seeing the fireworks. Compare the available categories.

MSC Splendida or MSC Seaview: which makes more sense?

The MSC Splendida on 12/27 is the clear choice for anyone who wants to spend midnight off Copacabana. Logitravel also lists the MSC Seaview with departures from Buenos Aires on 12/24 and 12/31, on an eight-day circuit through Santos, Balneário Camboriú and Punta del Este; that itinerary shouldn’t be sold as a Copacabana view.

The Seaview suits those who prefer a shorter trip. To compare fairly, select the date and the same cabin category on both offers; taxes, drinks and the experience you book change the price.

Check the date before buying: the selection brings together different ports and ships, and not all of them spend 12/31 off Copacabana.

How do you get to the port in Buenos Aires?

Cruise embarkation takes place at the Terminal de Cruceros Benito Quinquela Martín, in the Retiro area, next to Ramón Castillo Avenue and Avenida de los Inmigrantes. Confirm on your ticket the access and check-in time assigned to your departure; they take precedence over maps and reports from other trips.

From Ezeiza or Aeroparque, book transport to your accommodation and then to the terminal. Arriving in the city the day before creates a buffer for flight delays and documentation; on January 5, leave a buffer before your return flight for disembarkation and immigration. The Argentine port authority confirms the terminal’s location.

Where to stay before embarkation in Buenos Aires?

Retiro makes it easy to get to the terminal; Recoleta offers a quieter base for a night after arrival, and Puerto Madero is handy for those who want to dine near the river. Book at least the night of 12/26 if you’re flying in from another city. Compare nightly rate, cancellation policy and travel time to the port, without confusing Puerto Madero with the cruise access in Retiro.

Look for accommodations with flexible cancellation in the Buenos Aires hotel search. Availability and price vary.

What documents and health precautions are required?

The itinerary crosses Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. MSC publishes the documentation rules by trip type: for Brazilians, check the physical document accepted for the international itinerary and the required validity; a valid passport and a well-kept RG (Brazilian ID) are the usual Mercosur options. Don’t rely on a driver’s license alone for international immigration. Minors need documentation and, depending on the accompanying guardians, proper authorization.

Driver’s license at embarkation — checked on 10/16/2026: for Brazilian adults, MSC and Costa accept a well-kept driver’s license on cruises with stops only in Brazil. With Argentina or Uruguay, the driver’s license isn’t valid: bring the original physical ID accepted or a valid passport, per the cruise line.

Minors under 18: the MSC list (clause 5.9.1) for domestic trips requires an RG, original birth certificate or passport with at least 6 months’ validity; Costa requires an RG issued less than 10 years ago or an original birth certificate only for children under 12. Driver’s licenses don’t appear on these lists for minors. Bring proof of parentage and the authorizations required depending on the accompanying adults and the itinerary. Details are in cruise documents.

The same MSC page states that travel insurance is mandatory on cruises heading to Argentina. Since embarkation is in Buenos Aires, confirm the policy and the specific requirements for this departure when you book. Treatment at the ship’s medical center may be charged; Brazilian public healthcare (SUS) doesn’t cover expenses on board outside the public system. Compare cruise coverage.

If someone uses a wheelchair or needs assistance, mention it when booking: MSC requires prior declaration of mobility devices. For January 1, check whether shore excursions and local transport will run on the holiday; the Ilha Grande stop doesn’t equal a guaranteed outing.

What requires extra payment: Drinks outside the fare, internet, shore excursions, specialty restaurants and services chosen on board can raise your budget. Don’t treat the New Year’s Eve party as open bar without a booked package.

What usually catches travelers by surprise?

Summer weather can change outdoor programming. If rain, wind or an operational decision prevents the deck view, use the indoor spaces as a plan B and follow the crew’s announcements.

The displayed price is per person and may assume double occupancy. The ship may change position for safety and sea conditions, so fireworks seen from the deck aren’t a promise of a perfect angle. Mobile internet stops working at sea and Wi-Fi is a separate purchase decision. On the return, docking time isn’t the time you’ll be outside the terminal with your bags.

December and January are summer along the Buenos Aires–Rio–Punta del Este axis. Bring light clothing, sun protection and a layer for air-conditioned areas and the windy deck. For kids, agree on a meeting point on the ship and check the departure’s children’s program. Tender accessibility, when used at ports of call, requires advance confirmation with the cruise line.
