If you’re set on a public party
Malecón Tajamar is the most useful historical reference: the city government hosted the party that welcomed 2026 there and reported around eight thousand attendees the following day. That helps explain why the area is on the radar, but it doesn’t justify calling the 2027 edition confirmed. Until Benito Juárez publishes a new statement, treat this option as pending, not a guaranteed backup plan.
If having a reservation is the priority
Both hotel pages confirm the time and general program, but they don’t publish prices. That’s an important difference: a party announced by the hotel may be included in a certain rate, require a table reservation, or open separate sales. Before choosing, ask the hotel in writing about the conditions for your date, what’s included, and the cancellation rule. Don’t use the hotel’s regular activity as proof of availability on the night of December 31.
Where to stay so the trip back doesn’t become the night’s problem
If you go for Marriott, JW Marriott, or another waterfront celebration, prioritize lodging in the Hotel Zone and check the walking distance between your room and the party. The advantage isn’t a “guaranteed view” of the fireworks — that depends on each property and room position — but rather reducing the need to find transport when the party lets out.
Downtown is a different base: it can make sense if the city confirms an event at Malecón Tajamar, but that confirmation doesn’t exist yet. So it’s not worth sacrificing a refundable booking in the Hotel Zone just for a municipal schedule that remains uncertain. Flights, transfers, and getting back from the party
Choose your flight to Cancún International Airport after setting your stay dates. Arriving by 12/30 gives you room to handle flight delays and confirm your reservation for the night. In the early hours of the countdown, arrange your ride back before you head out; don’t treat normal map times as a promise for late-night travel.
A stress-free arrival for the countdown
- Flights: compare fares to Cancún, with cash or miles, on FlipMilhas.
- Transfer: from the airport to your hotel via Civitatis: provide your flight, passengers, and hotel, check whether the price is per vehicle, and book the return separately if needed.
- Insurance: private hospitals in Mexico are expensive; compare plans with medical coverage on Seguros Promo.

Downtown, the Hotel Zone, and Costa Mujeres all have different routes. An airport transfer won’t solve getting back from a party: if you’re sleeping away from the venue, arrange a taxi or transport for the early hours and confirm the meeting point with the organizer.
