MSC World America: What Changes for Anyone Who’s Already Cruised MSC in Brazil

🇧🇷 POR | 🇺🇸 EN | 🇪🇸 ES

The MSC World America mainly changes the scale of the ship, your cabin choice and the logistics: you board in Miami, you need documentation for the United States, and you sail in an environment geared toward the American market. A 7-night Caribbean cruise starts at R$ 2,719 per person in a double interior (Logitravel, October 2026), before flights, hotel and extras.

What changes compared to MSC ships in Brazil?

The World America keeps MSC’s logic but adds a seven-district layout, new attractions and cabins that may look onto the ship’s interior area. For anyone familiar with boarding in Brazil, the difference starts on land: an international flight, immigration and a hotel before the port.

MSC presents the World America as a World-class ship adapted to the American market. At 333.3 meters long and with a maximum capacity of about 6,760 guests, it calls for a willingness to walk between restaurants, pools and entertainment areas. Maximum capacity doesn’t mean every sailing will carry that many passengers.

Don’t expect the MSC name to reproduce the entire routine of the Brazilian season. Read the daily program, check your dinner time and seek assistance early if you have any communication difficulties. The app and the onboard card help with organization, but they don’t replace reading the fare conditions.

How much does the MSC World America cost and which sailings should you compare?

Three seven-night sailings in a Bella IB interior cabin cost from R$ 2,719 to R$ 3,349 per person, double occupancy, on Logitravel BR in October 2026. Each date’s price was carried through to the total shown for two adults.

The entry calendar and the total on the next step can differ. On 10/24, the initial page showed R$ 2,819 per person, while the selected fare ended at R$ 2,719. On 12/05, the calendar showed R$ 3,199, but the available total ended at R$ 3,349 per person. That’s why comparing only the first number in the search can lead to the wrong decision.

Open your desired date, keep the same occupancy, check the category and go through to the price breakdown. Include the actual ages of children at the start of the trip. Family cabins, solo travelers and two connecting cabins require a separate quote: the price for two adults doesn’t answer those situations.

What’s included and what adds to the bill?

The 10/24 interior cabin had full board and a total of R$ 5,438 for two, including embarkation and service fees. Drinks bought at bars, internet, specialty restaurants, shore excursions and medical care add expenses.

Component on 10/24/2026Per adultFor two
Base fareR$ 919R$ 1,838
EmbarkationR$ 1,100R$ 2,200
Hospitality service · 7 nightsR$ 700R$ 1,400
Cruise total · October 2026R$ 2,719R$ 5,438

The base fare’s daily rate comes to about R$ 131.29 per adult; the cruise with those fees comes to R$ 388.43 per adult/night. Those are two different calculations. MSC states that hospitality is included in the final price of new bookings. The R$ 100 per night per adult was already inside the R$ 2,719: don’t add another mandatory gratuity of the same amount to your budget.

How do you put together the total trip cost?

For the couple on the 10/24 sailing, start at R$ 5,438 and add round-trip flights to Brazil, lodging before embarkation, airport–hotel–port transport, insurance and chosen extras. The R$ 5,438 to R$ 6,698 range above is just the cruise on the three dates, in October 2026. The total trip cost will be higher; flights, hotel and packages need prices for your dates.

There’s no honest final price in reais for drinks and excursions without choosing products and checking the booking. Use a spreadsheet with one column per couple, another per person and the original currency of each expense. When paying in dollars, include the transaction’s exchange rate, any card margin and applicable IOF. A daily spending limit helps more than treating every onboard service as included.

Water, coffee and juices at meal stationsIncluded per the fare descriptionBar and café drinks have their own rules

Behind a drinks offer there may be a specific package with limits and exclusions. Compare what you usually consume with the package price before buying it. Don’t assume a package used in Brazil has the same name, limit or coverage on this sailing.

Tip: to compare the same trip in dollars, check CruiseDirect. The site is in English; international payment may carry IOF and exchange costs. Compare the total with hospitality, fees and cancellation conditions, not just the advertised fare.

Which cabin should you choose on the MSC World America?

The decisive choice is the view: a balcony facing the Promenade isn’t the same as a balcony facing the sea. An interior cabin lowers the bill; an ocean-view balcony makes more sense for anyone who wants to use the private space while sailing.

In the official cabin description, the Deluxe balcony has about 17 m² inside and a 3 to 10 m² balcony; the Promenade has about 16 m² and a 5 m² balcony. Layout, square footage and view vary by category and cabin number.

Promenade balcony, Infinite or ocean view?

The Promenade prioritizes the movement of the central area and may have another cabin in your line of sight. For anyone seeking privacy and an open horizon, it’s worth selecting an ocean category and checking its position on the deck plan. The category with a Promenade and partial sea view also deserves attention: the name doesn’t mean an unobstructed ocean front.

The Infinite Ocean View uses a sliding panoramic window to open the space; it isn’t a conventional outdoor balcony. A guaranteed cabin saves on selection but leaves the number and location to the line. If distance from the elevator, proximity to family or the view are priorities, buy a fare that lets you choose and confirm the cabin.

Is the Yacht Club worth it for those who already know MSC?

The Yacht Club can make sense for anyone who wants an exclusive space within a big ship. MSC includes a butler, the Premium Extra package and internet among its benefits. Compare the whole package with a balcony plus the extras you’d actually buy; a big price difference isn’t justified just by moving up a category.

Tip: before paying for a balcony, check the code and the view on the MSC World America sailing. Choose by the deck plan and how you’ll use the cabin; the cheapest balcony may face the Promenade.

What are the seven days between Miami and the Caribbean like?

The Honduras and Mexico itinerary spreads seven nights across four ports of call and two sea days. The trip starts and ends in Miami; Ocean Cay appears as a stop at MSC’s private island, not as a separate stay.

DayPortHow to plan
1MiamiBoard at the time on your ticket
2At seaGet to know the ship and book the activities you want
3Roatán, HondurasChoose an excursion and a return margin
4Costa Maya, MexicoDecide on an excursion based on time ashore
5Cozumel, MexicoSet aside beach, diving or your chosen visit
6At seaEnjoy the attractions and rest without going ashore
7Ocean Cay, BahamasBeach; check the port’s times and services
8MiamiDisembark and transfer to hotel or airport

Source: itinerary for the exact sailing on Logitravel BR, October 2026. Order, times and ports of call may change. Book excursions based on the ship’s schedule, not just the duration advertised by the operator. If you go out on your own, plan your return to the terminal before the boarding deadline.

MSC lists family attractions such as the water park, Jaw Drop and Doremiland. Cliffhanger is charged separately. The concept favors anyone planning to spend time on the ship itself, including the two sea days; a trip focused only on beaches may get less out of that investment.

Plan the most important activities first and leave room to rest. Height, age and health restrictions vary by attraction. Don’t promise a child an activity before checking their eligibility, and don’t use the existence of a paid attraction as a measure of included leisure.

How do you get to the embarkation port in Miami?

The World America boards in Miami at MSC’s Terminal AA, listed as 2200 N. Cruise Blvd, Miami, FL 33132. Use the terminal and time written on your ticket; getting to PortMiami isn’t the same as getting to the right entrance.

The address published by MSC for Miami guides the driver. To reduce the risk of missing embarkation due to a flight delay, plan to arrive in the city the day before. That means booking a hotel and transport, but it avoids depending on an international flight, immigration and baggage delivery on the same day as the ship.

When choosing lodging, Downtown and Brickell are possible bases for the urban part; Miami Beach suits better anyone who wants to enjoy the beach before the cruise. See the comparison of Miami Beach, Downtown and Brickell for lodging and check the route from your specific hotel to the terminal.

Instead of trying to squeeze shopping and a tour into the way to embarkation, set aside the day before to explore the city. The practical Miami itinerary helps you choose what fits your available time. End the tour with time to spare for rest and preparing your documents.

For anyone adding more than one night before the cruise, a bay or city tour can complement the stay. Choose an activity with a meeting point and duration that fit your hotel, avoiding turning embarkation morning into yet another transfer with a tight schedule.

If shopping is a priority, set aside another period and check the Miami itinerary beyond South Beach and shopping. Extra baggage, transport and airline limits factor into that decision. Don’t confuse a sightseeing boat tour with the transfer to the World America terminal.

On the way back, leave a margin between disembarkation and your flight. The time the ship arrives isn’t the time everyone leaves with their bags, clears formalities and reaches the airport. Coordinate the return with the line’s guidance and your booked transport.

Which documents does a Brazilian need to bring?

A Brazilian traveling on a Brazilian passport needs a passport and the appropriate US visa to enter the United States before embarkation. The RG (Brazilian ID) used on some South American itineraries doesn’t replace those documents in Miami.

The US government doesn’t include Brazil in the visa waiver program. For a tourist visit, check the B2 or B1/B2 visa that fits your case. ESTA doesn’t replace the visa for anyone traveling only on a Brazilian passport; dual nationality changes the analysis and should be checked against the rules of the passport used.

MSC advises checking documents and visas and working with a passport valid for at least six months after return. Review the requirements of Honduras, Mexico and the Bahamas, as well as the conditions for re-entering the US, for your nationality and immigration status. Having embarkation and return in Miami doesn’t eliminate that check.

Families with minors also need the applicable travel authorizations, their own documents and the line’s rules for cabin occupancy. Don’t leave visa issuance until after paying a fare with a high penalty. Bring the originals and keep copies accessible separately.

Tip: look for insurance with adequate coverage for cruises, medical care and trip interruption. Brazil’s SUS doesn’t cover you abroad and the ship’s medical center is paid. Compare conditions at Seguros Promo. Cancellation coverage depends on the reasons covered and the policy limits.

How much do you lose if you cancel or change the trip?

The cost of canceling depends on the contract, the fare and how far in advance you act: in MSC Brasil’s online contract for cruises of less than 15 days, excluding Yacht Club, the penalty reaches 100% in the last five days or in case of no-show.

The MSC Brasil terms show the following progression as a reference. It shouldn’t be applied automatically to a purchase on Logitravel or CruiseDirect: ask the agency for the specific conditions before paying and check how fees, extras and any air services are handled.

Advance noticeMSC BR reference · under 15 days
Up to 60 daysRetention of R$ 195 per cabin and tax handling per contract
59 to 30 days25%
29 to 22 days40%
21 to 15 days60%

5 to 0 days or no-show100%

Source: MSC BR online contract checked in October 2026; Yacht Club and longer trips have their own conditions. The percentages should be read together with the calculation base and the contract’s refund rules, not as an automatic percentage of the entire trip expense.

Changing dates can also generate a fare difference, penalty or loss of benefits. Before booking, save the change rules, payment deadline, currency and what happens if the visa isn’t granted. A visa denial doesn’t by itself turn a fare into a refundable one.

If you buy flight and hotel separately, each supplier will have its own rule. Calculate the exposure of the whole package: a changeable cruise doesn’t solve a non-refundable ticket. Prioritize getting your documents issued and align the dates before taking on expenses you couldn’t recover.

Who needs to check restrictions before booking?

Pregnant travelers, families with infants and passengers with reduced mobility need to check the rules before buying. Eligibility involves the entire trip, the cabin and the intended activities; not just your condition on the day the ship leaves Miami.

In MSC’s health guidance, pregnancy must remain at 23 weeks and six days or less throughout the entire trip, with medical documentation and prior notification. A sailing that exceeds that limit mid-itinerary shouldn’t be booked as if the rule applied only at embarkation.

MSC’s children’s FAQ allows children under two on short cruises but applies a minimum of two years on trips of eleven nights or more, with caveats for cruise combinations. The age for a childcare service is another rule; don’t use it as the general minimum boarding age.

For reduced mobility, request a compatible accessible cabin and confirm assistance, equipment and the need for a companion. On a ship over 333 meters long, cabin location and distances to the restaurant and elevator affect comfort. Ports of call may impose limits different from the indoor spaces; check the accessibility of each excursion.

Anyone prone to seasickness should also consider the sea days, seek appropriate medical guidance and choose the cabin by its position. A big ship doesn’t guarantee the absence of motion. Activities involving height, swinging or slides have their own criteria; being able to board doesn’t mean being able to use all of them.

Who is the MSC World America worth it for?

The MSC World America is worth more for anyone who wants the ship to be a central part of the vacation, likes family-friendly options and accepts the international planning. Anyone looking only to repeat a simple trip along the Brazilian coast may spend less effort choosing a sailing in Brazil.

Families who enjoy onboard activities, couples interested in an ocean-view balcony and travelers combining Miami with seven nights of cruising have concrete reasons to consider it. But anyone who requires full service in Portuguese, avoids long walks inside the ship or has a budget that only covers the cabin needs to rethink the choice.

The comparison starts with the goal, not the size: the Seaview or the Virtuosa, if you’ve sailed them, may have delivered what you were looking for — meals, pool and rest without an international flight. The World America adds attractions and a layout of spaces, but also an American leg with documents, hotel and expenses in another currency. To compare the lines’ logic, see MSC or Costa for your first cruise.

If the trip fits the full budget, compare the interior with the ocean-view balcony on the same dates. If the budget only works without flight, hotel or insurance, choose another sailing before committing money. The best cabin is the one that combines view, location and price with how you plan to spend your sea days.

Before booking, have four answers in writing: which category will be delivered, what the total with fees is, which documents are required and how much canceling costs. Then choose the date that lets you arrive in Miami with a margin and return to Brazil without depending on an immediate disembarkation.
