Which mini cruises sail in the 2026/2027 season?

As of 10/09/2026, Logitravel was selling 16 itineraries of 2 to 4 nights departing from Brazil: 10 from Santos and 6 from Itajaí. MSC concentrates the Santos departures with three ships, and Costa uses the Costa Diadema at both ports, in November, December and March. The table gathers every date with the lowest price per person in a double interior cabin, taxes included (Oct/2026).

Rio de Janeiro didn’t make the list of short embarkations. As of 10/09/2026, the ships leaving from Pier Mauá were running 8 to 10-night itineraries to the Prata region, and the only mini cruise that touches Rio is the MSC Musica on 03/07/2027, which departs from Itajaí and ends in Rio, one-way. Salvador and Maceió also only have 8-day itineraries.

Notice the gap: between 12/18/2026 and 01/29/2027 there’s no mini cruise on sale. Over the year-end holidays the ships run 7 to 9-night itineraries, and anyone who wants New Year’s Eve on board needs to check the full 2026/2027 cruise season. For Carnival, the only short sailing is the MSC Divina on 02/05, detailed in the 2027 Carnival mini cruise guide, which costs more than regular dates.

How much does a mini cruise cost per person?

A 3-night mini cruise departing from Santos costs from R$ 2,084 per person in a double interior cabin (Oct/2026), with taxes and, on MSC, the service fee already in the price. A couple pays from R$ 4,168. The one-way MSC Musica itinerary, from Itajaí to Rio, goes for R$ 1,779 (Oct/2026), but you’ll need to arrange your own return trip.

The price varies a lot within the same route. On the 3-night MSC Musica, the 11/30 departure costs R$ 2,084 and the 11/20 one costs R$ 2,934 per person (Oct/2026), the same trip with an R$ 850 difference. On the Costa Diadema from Itajaí, the 12/09 date goes for R$ 2,247, versus R$ 2,892 on 12/16 (Oct/2026). Dates near the holidays and Carnival always sit at the top of the range.

The math reveals what few people notice: a night on a mini cruise costs more than a night on a week-long cruise. In October 2026, the 3-night MSC Divina cost R$ 695 per night and the 7-night MSC Virtuosa, R$ 575. The mini cruise wins on total price and vacation days, not on price per night. The how much does a cruise cost guide breaks down fees, drinks and extras on longer trips.

To nail down the real cost, add to the cabin price your transport to the port, parking or a hotel night the day before, drinks (only water, coffee and juice from the machines are included) and shore excursions. Logitravel doesn’t list the price of these extras; check the booking screen before you pay.

Where does the mini cruise go: Búzios, Ilhabela or Itajaí?

Almost every MSC mini cruise departing from Santos stops in Armação dos Búzios (RJ) and spends a full day at sea. Costa’s connect Santos and Itajaí, with a stop in Ilhabela on the 4-night versions. The 3-night itinerary has only one port of call, so the ship itself is the main attraction.

Costa Diadema 4 nights (Santos)Ilhabela (7am to 8pm) and Itajaí (8am to 5pm)22 hoursAt 8am on day 5

If beach time is what you’re after, the most generous pick is the 3-night MSC Divina, with 11 hours in Búzios, or the 12/18 sailing, which stops in Angra dos Reis and Búzios. If you’d rather enjoy the ship, the November MSC Musica puts the sea day right after embarkation and only reaches Búzios on the third day. For those boarding in Itajaí, the 4-night Costa Diadema includes 13 hours in Ilhabela (SP).

Búzios and Ilhabela don’t have piers for large ships: passengers disembark by tender boat, and rough seas can cancel the stop. In that case the day becomes another day on board, with no refund for the missed port. On a 3-night trip, losing the only port of call changes the whole experience, which is why the 12/18 Divina and the 4-night versions, with two stops, reduce that risk.

Which port does the mini cruise leave from and how do I get to embarkation?

Mini cruises depart from the Concais terminal at the Port of Santos, about 2.5 km from downtown, or from the Itajaí (SC) passenger terminal. MSC closes check-in 2 hours before the ship departs: for 6pm departures, the cutoff is 4pm. Your e-ticket shows an individual check-in time, and arriving too early may mean waiting outside.

From São Paulo, the Anchieta and Imigrantes highways get you to Santos in just over an hour without traffic, but Friday afternoons and holiday eves clog the mountain descent. Terminal parking, taxis and buses are covered in the Port of Santos for cruises guide, and the list of ships boarding there is in cruises departing from Santos. Those flying in usually land at Congonhas or Guarulhos and drive or take a bus down; arriving the day before takes the rush out of embarkation day.

Costa ships depart at 5pm and return at 8am. The MSC Musica on 03/07 leaves Itajaí at 5pm and ends in Rio at 8am on day 3, so your return ticket to Santa Catarina needs to be booked in advance. Itajaí is about 15 km from Balneário Camboriú, which has more lodging options for the night before.

What’s included in the price and what’s paid separately?

The mini cruise price includes the cabin with housekeeping, buffet and main restaurant meals, shows, pools and the ship’s programming. Drinks (except water, coffee and juice from the machines), internet, shore excursions, specialty restaurants, spa and medical care are paid separately, on both MSC and Costa.

The difference that matters most is the service fee. On MSC pages on Logitravel, it’s included in the displayed price. On Costa, Logitravel itself warns that if the booking summary doesn’t show a service fee line, it’s charged on board on the last day. Before comparing the Costa Diadema with an MSC ship, check that line so you’re not comparing prices under different rules.

On a 3-night trip, the drinks package rarely pays off for someone who has two or three drinks a day: it’s charged per night and per adult, and a single sea day isn’t enough time to make the most of it. It’s more worthwhile for groups planning to spend the day at the pool and for Carnival. Themed nights, like MSC’s White Party, are already included.

What cabin types are there and which is worth it on a 3-night trip?

The ships have interior cabins (no window), ocean view (with window), balcony, suite and, on MSC, the Yacht Club. On a 3-night trip, the interior is the best value: you spend little time in it, and on the MSC Musica the difference up to the most expensive suite ranges from R$ 2,204 to R$ 8,384 per person on the 12/03 departure (Oct/2026).

CabinBest forRange (Oct/2026)
InteriorAnyone who wants the lowest price and sleeps well in the darkfrom R$ 2,084 per person (Oct/2026)

BalconyCouples and anyone prone to seasickness (fresh air and sea views)On the MSC Divina 02/05: R$ 4,409 per person (Oct/2026)
Suite and Yacht Club (MSC)Anyone who wants an exclusive area and butler serviceUp to R$ 10,044 per person on the MSC Seaview (Oct/2026)

On the 3-night Costa Diadema departing from Santos, the range goes from R$ 2,384 for an interior to R$ 5,988 for a suite, per person (Oct/2026). A balcony makes sense in two cases: anyone prone to seasickness, since stepping out into fresh air helps, and anyone traveling in hot months who wants to see the sea in the morning. For everyone else, the savings from an interior cabin pay for drinks and the Búzios excursion.

Logitravel requires a separate booking for each cabin and notes that each passenger’s age should be as of the first day of the cruise, otherwise the price may change. For a group of friends, that means booking the cabins together and checking birth dates before paying.

Tip: balcony cabins are the first to sell out on December and February dates; if a balcony matters to your choice, compare dates on the same ship before switching categories see the MSC Musica cabins.

What documents do I need to board?

Since mini cruises only stop at Brazilian ports, an original RG (Brazilian ID) or valid passport is enough. MSC and Costa accept a driver’s license for Brazilian adults on Brazil-only itineraries, according to the official lists checked on 10/16/2026. A photo of the document on your phone doesn’t count.

Driver’s license for boarding — checked on 10/16/2026: for Brazilian adults, MSC and Costa accept a driver’s license in good condition on cruises with stops only in Brazil. With Argentina or Uruguay, a driver’s license doesn’t count: bring an accepted original physical ID or valid passport, per the cruise line.

Under 18: MSC’s list (clause 5.9.1) for domestic travel requires an RG, original birth certificate or passport valid for at least 6 months; Costa requires an RG issued less than 10 years ago or an original birth certificate only for children under 12. A driver’s license isn’t on these lists for minors. Bring proof of parentage and the authorizations required depending on guardians and itinerary. Details are in cruise documents.

Anyone under 18 needs their own photo ID or birth certificate, and those traveling without both parents need authorization. Pregnant travelers, seniors and passengers with reduced mobility should check the cruise line’s rules before booking; the cruise documents guide gathers the requirements, and the cruising with kids guide explains minimum age and who pays.

Medical care on board is paid, at private clinic rates, and there’s no public health system at sea. On a 3-night trip, feeling unwell on the sea day or twisting an ankle at a port of call can cost more than the cabin.

Tip: the ship’s medical center charges for every visit; a domestic travel insurance policy with on-board coverage and cancellation costs little compared to the cabin price: get a travel insurance quote.

Is a mini cruise worth it? Who it’s for and who it isn’t

It’s worth it for anyone who’s never cruised before and wants to find out if they get seasick, if they like the pace and the food before paying for a full week. It also works as an extended-weekend trip for couples and groups of friends, and for anyone who lives near Santos or Itajaí and doesn’t need a flight. If your only question is which of the 3-night departures to pick, the 3-night cruise table shows the price per night for each ship and how it compares with 4- and 7-night sailings.

Traveler typeWorth it?Why
First-time cruiserYesTests seasickness and ship routine starting at R$ 2,084 (Oct 2026)
Couple on an extended weekendYesThree nights away need only a couple of days off work
Family wanting to see destinationsNot reallyJust one port of call; time ashore is short
Anyone hunting for the lowest price per nightNoThe per-night rate is higher than on a 7-night cruise
Anyone wanting New Year’s Eve on boardNoThere are no mini cruises between Dec 18 and Jan 29

It’s not worth it for anyone chasing the lowest price per night, for anyone who wants to see several places, or for anyone flying in from far away: the flight to São Paulo or Santa Catarina can cost as much as the cabin itself. In those cases, a 7-night itinerary to the Northeast or the Prata region spreads the cost of getting to the port much better.

Among the cruise lines, MSC has more dates, more ships and includes the service charge in the price, which makes comparing easier. Costa is the pick for anyone living in the South who wants to embark in Itajaí, and it’s the only one with Ilhabela on the short itinerary. The full comparison of food, entertainment and crowd is in MSC or Costa: which to choose.

What nobody tells you about the mini cruise

The pitfalls of a mini cruise are all about timing and extra costs. With only three nights, every lost hour weighs more than on a week-long trip.

In the disembarkation line, the ship lets off passengers carrying their own luggage first. If you need to hit the road early, pack a small bag and walk off with it on the last day.

The bottom line

For a first mini cruise, the 3-night MSC Divina and MSC Musica departures from Santos to Búzios, from R$ 2,084 per person (Oct 2026), offer the best balance between price and time ashore. Anyone living in the South finds the same logic on the Costa Diadema from Itajaí. Pick your date before your ship, and check the service charge on the booking screen.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cancellation and refund policy for the mini cruise?

On MSC, you can change your booking date up to 30 days before departure, with a R$ 300 fee per cabin on the Bella fare and no fee on higher fares, as long as the new date is within 90 days of the original (Oct 2026). Mini cruise cancellation penalties vary with how far in advance you cancel; check the line’s general conditions before you pay.

Are there restrictions for children, seniors or pregnant travelers on the mini cruise?

On MSC, pregnant travelers up to 23 weeks on the last day of the cruise can board with a medical certificate, and those at 24 weeks or more cannot board.
