Only MSC Musica sells embarkation in Paranaguá for the 2026/2027 season, according to the port’s departures page on Logitravel on 10/10/2026. There are 12 Saturday departures, from 12/26/2026 to 03/13/2027, all on domestic itineraries.

The port’s return to the calendar was announced in January 2026 by the Government of Paraná, after meetings between Portos do Paraná and MSC, according to the Agência Estadual de Notícias (Jan 2026). In April, Viaje Paraná confirmed MSC Musica and 12 calls in the state, from December 2026 to March 2027, with a larger ship than the MSC Lirica and MSC Armonia of previous seasons. CLIA Brasil, the cruise lines’ association, lists Paranaguá among the seven embarkation ports of the 2026/2027 season, alongside Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Maceió, Itajaí and Balneário Camboriú, according to Monitor Mercantil (May 2026).

What is the MSC Musica itinerary from Paranaguá?

The 7-night itinerary leaves Paranaguá at 6 pm on Saturday and calls at Itajaí, Ilhabela, Rio de Janeiro, Búzios and Ilha Grande, with a full day at sea before returning to Paranaguá at 8 am the following Saturday (Logitravel, Oct 2026).

8 (Saturday)Paranaguá: disembarkationArrives at 8 am

On the 01/23/2027 departure the order of Búzios and Ilha Grande is reversed, with the same 8 am to 6 pm times at both stops (Logitravel, Oct 2026). Ilhabela, Búzios and Ilha Grande usually use tender boats to go ashore, which depends on the sea conditions that day. Since the itinerary is entirely domestic, the currency ashore is the real and your phone works with a Brazilian plan in the ports.

Is there a New Year’s Eve cruise from Paranaguá?

Yes. MSC Musica leaves Paranaguá on 12/26/2026 at 6 pm and spends the turn of 2026 into January 1, 2027 positioned in front of Copacabana, to watch the fireworks from the sea, according to the departure itinerary on Logitravel (Oct 2026). The ship doesn’t dock at Copacabana: it stays at sea from 10 pm to 1 am.

The New Year’s Eve itinerary is different from the regular Saturdays: Itajaí on 12/27, Ilhabela on 12/28, Rio de Janeiro on 12/29, Ilha Grande on 12/30 and Búzios on 12/31, from 7 am to 4 pm, before heading to the front of Copacabana. Arrival in Paranaguá is at 8 am on 01/02/2027. On Logitravel, prices for that departure ranged from R$ 7,538 to R$ 22,518 per person, depending on the cabin (Oct 2026), and some categories already showed no price.

The same ship also does New Year’s Eve from Itajaí, on 12/27/2026. The comparison of departures, cabins and the Yacht Club is in the guide to New Year’s Eve on MSC Musica, and the other ship options are in New Year’s Eve on a cruise. To check your cabin for the date, see the 12/26 MSC Musica departure.

Which port does the cruise leave from and how do you get to the port from Curitiba?

The cruise leaves from the Porto de Paranaguá, and passenger reception is at the Receptivo do Rocio, next to the Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Rocio; from there, escorted buses take passengers to the ship at the pier, according to the Agência Estadual de Notícias (Jan 2026). From Curitiba it’s about 90 km along the BR-277.

The reception center works as a remote terminal because the Port Authority’s new cruise terminal is still in the design stage, according to the Agência Estadual de Notícias (Feb 2026). In the operation announced by the state, the Port Guard controls the route between Rocio and the customs area, with 20 cameras and sniffer dog inspections. The exact location and check-in time come on your ticket; follow MSC’s document, not the ship’s departure time.

Plan to arrive the day before if you’re coming by plane or from another city: a flight delay or the mountain road blocked on Saturday morning are the most common ways to miss the ship. The descent of the BR-277 has two lanes, but an accident or fog in the mountains can stall traffic for hours.

Where to stay in Paranaguá before boarding?

The most practical option is to stay in downtown Paranaguá or near Rocio: on the Saturday of the cruise you reach the reception center in a short ride, without depending on the mountain road. See the hotels in Paranaguá on Booking, with free cancellation.

If you live in Curitiba, you can leave home on Saturday morning and arrive in time, as long as you allow extra time for the mountain road. For those coming from another state and landing at Afonso Pena, a night in Paranaguá eliminates the risk of missing the ship due to a flight delay.

What to do in Paranaguá before or after the cruise?

Arriving a day early, you can stroll through the historic center of Paranaguá, on the banks of the Itiberê river, or head to Morretes, in the mountains, for barreado. Ilha do Mel, the most famous island on the Paraná coast, takes a full day and works best for those staying an extra night after disembarking.

Disembarking at 8 am on Saturday leaves the day free to head to the coast or climb the mountains via the Estrada da Graciosa. If the idea is to extend the year-end holidays in Paraná, the guides to New Year’s Eve on Ilha do Mel and New Year’s Eve in Curitiba show the options on land.

Is it better to board in Paranaguá or Itajaí?

For those living in Paraná, Paranaguá usually wins: MSC Musica does the same coastal circuit from both ports, and the Saturday departure from Paranaguá was listed from R$ 4,044, versus R$ 4,624 on Sunday in Itajaí (Logitravel, Oct 2026). Itajaí has more variety, with Costa Diadema and itineraries to the Prata region.

What cabin types are there and which is worth it?

MSC Musica sells interior cabins (no window), ocean view (with window), balcony and the MSC Yacht Club suites. On Logitravel, the Paranaguá departures listed Bella and Deluxe interiors, ocean views, Bella, Deluxe, Premium and Aurea balconies, and the Yacht Club suites (Oct 2026).

CabinBest forWhat to weigh
InteriorThose who spend the day ashore at the five ports of callNo natural light
Ocean view (window)Those who want to see the sea without paying for a balconyThere’s a category with an obstructed view (OO)
BalconyThose who want to enjoy the day at seaMore expensive
Yacht ClubThose who want an exclusive area and a butlerPrice close to triple the interior

The itinerary has five ports of call and only one full day at sea, so the cabin matters less than on a Prata cruise: an interior works well for those who go ashore at every port. Before booking, look at the ship’s deck plan and avoid a cabin below a party area or next to the elevators.

Tip: balconies are usually the first to sell out on New Year’s Eve and January departures; if it weighs on your choice, compare the same category in February and see the MSC Musica cabins.

What documents do I need to board?

Since the itinerary is entirely in Brazil, Brazilians board with an official photo ID in good condition, such as an RG or passport; check the accepted list on the MSC documents page (Oct 2026) before leaving home.

A very old RG, with a photo that doesn’t allow the passenger to be recognized, or a damaged one may be refused at check-in. Carry the original in your hand luggage: it’s requested at the Receptivo do Rocio and when returning onboard at each port of call. Minors traveling without both parents need authorization; the full list is in documents for a cruise.

Tip: onboard medical care is paid separately and isn’t included in the MSC Musica fare, and insurance with cancellation coverage protects your booking if you need to back out. get a quote for cruise travel insurance.

What nobody tells you about the cruise from Paranaguá

The remote boarding at Rocio, the one-way segments and the mountain road descent create five gotchas that almost nobody explains when you buy the cruise from Paranaguá, and they all affect your schedule or your wallet.

Is it worth it? Who it’s for and who it’s NOT for

It’s worth it for those living in Curitiba, inland Paraná or northern Santa Catarina who want a week along the coast without catching a flight or a long drive to Santos: boarding is about 90 km from the capital, with the lowest 7-night price among the Southern ports this season (Oct 2026).

Worth it for: first-time cruisers who want to travel with just a Brazilian ID; families who prefer Brazilian beaches to exchange rates and passports; those who can travel in February, when prices drop.

Not worth it for: those who want to see Buenos Aires and Montevideo, an itinerary that currently leaves from Itajaí or Santos; those looking for a round-trip mini-cruise, also only in Itajaí; those who get very seasick and dislike tender boat landings on the islands. For other ports, see the cruise from Santos and the overview of the 2026/2027 cruise season.

Conclusion: which departure should you choose in Paranaguá?

To board in Paraná, the choice is MSC Musica, and the real decision is the date: February and early March are cheaper, and the 12/26/2026 departure is the only one with the New Year’s turn in front of Copacabana. If you want the Prata or a mini-cruise, compare with Itajaí before booking.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a mini-cruise from Paranaguá?

Not a round-trip one. In 2026/2027, MSC Musica has only two short one-way segments from Paranaguá on 03/13/2027: to Itajaí, from R$ 1,004, and to Santos, from R$ 1,709 per person (Logitravel, Oct 2026). Round-trip mini-cruises leave from Itajaí.

Does the cruise from Paranaguá go to Buenos Aires?

No. All MSC Musica departures from Paranaguá in the 2026/2027 season are domestic, with Itajaí, Ilhabela, Rio de Janeiro, Búzios and Ilha Grande (Logitravel, Oct 2026). For Buenos Aires and Montevideo, the nearest embarkation is in Itajaí, on Costa Diadema.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

The cancellation penalty for a cruise from Paranaguá depends on the fare you choose and how far in advance you cancel, and the terms appear on the booking screen before payment. Read your fare’s policy and, if there’s a risk you’ll back out, consider travel insurance with cancellation coverage.

Are there restrictions for children, seniors or pregnant travelers?

On MSC, minors traveling without both parents need authorization, and babies have a minimum age to board depending on the length of the trip. Seniors and people with reduced mobility should notify the cruise line at booking because of the tender boat landings; the rule for pregnant travelers is still to be confirmed with MSC.
