Copacabana with kids: wristbands, ID and support points

In large crowds, agree on a fixed meeting point with your child and put an ID tag with a guardian’s phone number on them. At the 2025/26 countdown, Rio’s city government reported distributing wristbands around the 13 stages; 3,523 children and teenagers were identified. In another New Year’s operation, wristbands were offered at barriers along the Copacabana shoreline. The setup and locations can change each edition: look for uniformed Municipal Guard or Social Assistance staff and confirm, before heading out, where the 2027 New Year’s Eve stations will be. If you get separated, stay with your child in a safe place and ask an officer for help; don’t let them search alone.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the best type of New Year’s Eve to do with a baby?

Lodging with a quiet room, meals on-site and the option to head back early tends to simplify logistics. There’s no need to keep the baby awake until midnight; preserve care and the sleep routine, per the pediatric guidance from the SBP accessed on 10/07/2026.

Is there a station for lost children in Copacabana?

Rio’s city government reported wristbands and assistance in previous operations, including at the 2025/26 countdown stages. The 2026/27 locations and times need to be confirmed with the official operation; use your own ID tag and look for uniformed officers if you get separated.

Is it safe to take kids to watch fireworks?

The SBP advises keeping children at a safe distance from fireworks and under adult supervision. For babies or noise-sensitive children, choose a quiet indoor spot; the party on the sand isn’t necessary to enjoy the trip.

How much does it cost to travel with kids for New Year’s Eve?

It varies by destination, age, nights and package. As published, dated references: Beach Park’s Aqua Park in 2026, averages of R$ 320 adult and R$ 310 child over 1 m; Iguaçu Falls in 2026, R$ 121 Brazil/Mercosur; Caldas Novas, diRoma ticket of R$ 140 adult and R$ 100 for ages 7–11. Confirm the rate and kids’ rules on the official channel before buying.

What should I check before booking?

Ask for the total price for the number and ages of the children, minimum nights, dinner policy, kids’ activities and crib, check-in/out times, cancellation, event noise and return transportation. Tickets for parties and parks may be charged separately from the nightly rate.

Before choosing, compare nights and schedules for your child’s age. To explore other regions, head back to the New Year’s Eve hub.
